Embarking on a gorilla safari in Africa, the journey takes you into multiple habitats allowing you to explore on foot, by boat and a top up-roof Land cruiser to overlook the wild game during you game drive. Your Adventure begins from Uganda’s great primate capital Kibale Forest National Park and do primate tracking along with chimps, wildlife species change dramatically as you move into the wetlands and savannah ecosystems of Uganda’s most popular national park Queen Elizabeth and then another day observing the critically endangered mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
After your morning breakfast and a short briefing by our safari guide, we embark the safari jeep to Fort Portal western Uganda with scenic views passing through tea plantations and the lush green countryside which beautifies Uganda. The last hour of the journey will take you through the dense forest and sounds of the wild. Lunch break as you continue your way to Kibale National Park for a swamp walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary in the evening for about 2-3 hours. After that activity you go check in your Lodge or Hotel as you relax around waiting for dinner.
Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best national parks in Uganda boosting the highest number of primate species in East Africa. In Uganda today, there approximately 5000 chimpanzees in the wild making it a perfect place to spot them in their natural habitat: Experienced and knowledgeable armed ranger guides will take you for chimpanzee tracking early in the morning as you will get along to see other species like the black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, grey checked mangabey, red tailed monkeys, among others.
Once located, you will spend a full hour with as you watch and observe them swinging on trees, playing, eating, grooming as you take pictures and videos of them. After the chimpanzee tracking experience in Kibale Forest, we then proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park with lunch en-route as the park welcomes you with a boat safari on the Kazinga channel which joins Lake George and Lake Edward.
On this boat safari, you will be able to see schools of hippos, crocodiles, birds along the shores of the waters, elephants and buffaloes which come to the waterhole to drink or bath, this one of the highlights to do in this park. Dinner and overnight at your selected lodge or Hotel
Undertake an early morning game drive to catch up with the early risers and predators returning to their hide outs. The game drive is about 2– 3 hours with possible sights of herds of elephants, buffaloes, lions, Uganda Kobs, bush bucks, jackals among others. If so lucky you will be to spot leopard. After the morning game drive, you can relax while taking lunch. In the afternoon depart the lodge with all your belongings and set out for a game drive in the Ishasha sector area bracing yourself for a chance to see the rare famous tree climbing lions. The climbing lions can be seen lounging in the fig trees during mid- morning as they rest from the previous night. However it is not a guarantee that the lions will be seen. Sometimes it depends on the luck and time reaching the area. After this great experience proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in preparation for your next day, dinner and overstay at selected accommodation.
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi forest begins very early with morning breakfast, ready with your lunch box, mineral water, hiking boots, insect repellent, sun glasses, long sleeved shirt and trouser, a hat, rain gears and read with your camera. Drive to the park headquarters to get briefed and at 8:00am embark on the Uganda gorilla trek along the tracks within the impenetrable forest in search for these gentle apes. The gorilla trekking experience may take you 2 – 8 hours to find the might gorillas depending on their movements.
The trek to see mountain gorilla is quite tiresome but very rewarding once you come across then in their natural home. As you look straight into the brown expressive eyes, this is a life time thrill of a wild life adventure only in Africa can offer you. When with the gorillas you are given a maximum of 1 hour to watch and observe them as you take memorable pictures and videos of them interacting with each other. After the gorilla trekking experience, connect to Lake Bunyonyi where you will under a thrilling boat cruise to gain impressive scenic views of calm water that stand as the second deepest in Africa.
